Saudaraku, kita masyarakat Bajau di Indonesia, sejak pertama kali leluhur kita menjejakkan kakinya di muka bumi Indonesia ini, tidak ada yang meninggalkan dokumen tertulis sebagai bukti sejarah untuk menjadi rujukan atau bahan study. Lalu di mana literatur Bajau itu bisa ditemukan? … Ada di dalam PAKANNA’ANG dan IKO-IKO SAMA. Itulah sebabnya orang-orang seperti Puto Mungkamma’ dan orang-orang tua kita yang masih menguasai IKO-IKO SAMA, saya kejar kemanapun mereka berada, karena inilah satu-satunya literatur kita, rekaman untuk melihat potret masa lampau.

Sure’ i Lagaligo atau Lontara’ Lagaligo yg ditulis pada abad 13 – 15 dan yg terakhir LONTARA ASSALENNA WAJO’ yg ditemukan di Lasolo, diperkirakan ditulis pada abad ke 17, hanya sedikit sekali memuat sejarah Bajau di Indonesia.

Kata-kata SIKARIMANANG, SIKAMASEANG, SIKATUTUANG, SIPAKARISSA, SITUTULOH itu ada dalam bait-bait IKO-IKO SAMA, namun tidak lagi utuh dalam satu bait atau dalam satu PAKANNA’ANG, melainkan terpisah-pisah (tapipiri’) ibarat puzzle, perlu literatur lain untuk merangkaikannya kembali. Tentulah saya nggak gegabah telen bulet2 begitu saja, tetapi melalui metode “komparasi” dan “check and recheck procedure”.

Komparasi, tentulah pembandingnya “aple to aple”. Mari kita lihat Danakang Sama di beberapa Negara:

Bajau Kota Belud:

  • Kiti ellum mesti berkasih sayang, Walau tio ta moto sikot ta atai.
  • Mangan nia’ mangan asal pan kiti kurung-kurung.
  • Amun aino mara diri anak Sama, jadi bedenakan no ae.
  • Kiti serumpun Sama dembaan, bongso ti jomo ni santun.

Bajau Semporna:
Allumta min deom sallang, suvai kita bi magta’akkup Dabangsa, Daugama, Dansehe’an, Dabahasa, minsanpun magsaddii lahat.

Bajau Philippine:

  • Sayyan-sayyan nogol maka golgol, sayyan-sayyan togos magdagbos.
  • Nionan kita Sama sabab kita magdenakan. Magsumpah ma laha’ Sama. Embal mettak laha’ pagkahi Sama. Ibarat dekayu puhu’ peddi’ dekayu peddi’ du sab kememon.

Sekarang kita pakai Check and Recheck, nah. Gini: Coba anda ingat-ingat kembali, pernahkah anda mengalami peristiwa2 seperti ini:

  • Suatu waktu ada saudara yang menderita sakit, anda disuruh orang tua beli obat, tapi karena ada kesibukan lain, anda pura-pura nggak denger… Ngoya’ne Umma’nu: “Nginai bele nggai ko makale baong. Nggai ke ko KARIMANG ma danakannu?… Catat ini: SAMA IRU SIKARIMANANG.
  • Anda punya parfum tapi tinggal sedikit, lalu ada saudara yang minta sedikit saja buat pakai ke pesta, lagi-lagi anda pura-pura budeg… Ngoya’ ampa ne umma’nu: “Munanu ia ne. Nggai ke ko MASE’ ngita danakannu mangi’?”… Catet lagi: SAMA IRU SIKAMASEANG.
  • Tradisi NGAPUNDU, MATTILA’ itu sudah dikenal sejak berabad-abad lalu dan masih diamalkan sampai hari ini. Inilah bentuk kepedulian masyarakat Bajau bagi saudara2nya yang kita kenal sebagai: SIKATUTUANG, SIPAKARISSA dan SITUTULOH.

Dari sinilah asalnya Kata-kata SIKARIMANANG, SIKAMASEANG, SIKATUTUANG, SIPAKARISSA, SITUTULOH, warisan budaya leluhur, tradisi masyarakat Bajau yang dijunjung tinggi dan masih melekat sampai hari ini.

Pertanyaannya, kalau ada orang Bajau yang sama sekali tidak peduli bahkan sama sekali tidak memiliki karakter seperti itu, gimana? … NGGAI DAKA SAMA.
