Pagerungan Besar adalah sebuah pulau kecil yang terletak disebelah timur pulau Madura dan termasuk dalam gugusan kepulauan Sapeken. Pulau dengan jumlah penduduk kurang lebih 8000 jiwa ini menawarkan panorama tropis yang eksotik di tengah-tengah pergulatan masyarakatnya dalam menggantungkan hidupnya pada laut. Deretan pohon kelapa yang diselingi pohon pisang merupakan jenis tanaman yang mendominasi di pulau kecil ini, ditambah hamparan pasir putih dengan terumbu karang yang tersebar di perairan memancarkan pesona tersendiri yang amat menawan. Ternyata Pulau Pagerungan Besar bukan hanya kaya akan pemandangannya yang mempesona. Akan tetapi Pulau ini juga kaya akan sumber daya alamnya, yang mana kini pulau Pagerungan Besar telah terukir dalam sejarah perminyakan di Indonesia sebagai daerah penghasil gas alam.
Pulau Pagerungan Besar termasuk dalam wilayah kabupaten Sumenep, namun jika dilihat dari letak geografisnya justru pulau ini lebih dekat ke pulau Bali ketimbang pulau Madura. Nah., itu masih dari segi letak geografisnya. Bagaimana dengan segi budayanya..? kebudayaan pulau Pagerungan Besar seperti rumah adat justru berkiblat pada Suku Bajo Suku Mandar dyang terdapat di Sulawesi yakni rumah panggung yang mana anak muda pulau Pagerungan Besar zaman sekarang terkadang menyebutnya dengan rumah tingkat ala Pagerungan island karena memiliki tangga sebagai jalan masuk ke dalam rumah. Hahaha… ada-ada saja. Yang paling aneh bin ajaibnya lagi sahabat-sahabati bahasa yang digunakan untuk berkomunikasi sehari-hari pun mereka menggunakan Bahasa Bajo dan Bahasa Mandar sayang lagi-lagi berbeda jauh dengan Bahasa Madura. Inilah yang terkadang membuat sebagai anak asli pulau Pagerungan Besar ini bingung jika ditanyakan asal penulis dari mana, karena jika penulis berucap dari sumenep pasti ditanggapinya berarti penulis mahir berbahasa madura, nah ketika penulis bilang jangankan mahir, mengucapkan satu kata menggunakan bahasa madura saja penulis tidak tahu. Lagi-lagi pasti tanggapannya loh kok ada ya orang sumenep tidak bisa bahasa madura… hemm disitulah kadang penulis merasa sedih.. ? . loh kok malah jadi curhat.. hehehe.. oke-oke mari kita kembali pada bahasan.
sekarang kita lanjut pada bahasan makanan khas pulau Pagerungan Besar. Sebagian besar masyarakat Pagerungan Besar disamping bermata pencaharian sebagai nelayan juga memiliki pekerjaan sampingan yakni berkebun secara musiman, dimana mereka selalu menyempatkan waktu ketika tidak melaut karena cuaca yang tidak bersahabat untuk mengolah kebun mereka dengan menanami ketela pohon alias singkong (ketika kemarau) dan jagung (musim hujan). Nah kaitannya dengan makanan khas Pagerungan Besar adalah makanan khasnya terbuat dari bahan dasar singkong ini sahabat-sahabati, yang mana singkong-singkong ini akan diolah dengan beberapa tahapan dan nantinya akan dihasilkan makanan-makanan khas Pagerungan Besar diantaranya JEPA, GOBE, dan SANGKO.
Untuk cara pembuatan makanan khas ini juga cukup menarik, tapi penulis tidak akan membahasnya sekarang sahabat-sahabat. Penulis akan membahasnya lain waktu saja jika ada kesempatan. Penulis rasa postingan penulis sangatlah banyak kekurangan untuk itu penulis harap sahabat-sahabat bisa membantu jika ada yang perlu ditambahkan.
